History
Gumtown Memorial Park is a beloved community hub with deep historical roots. Established by Gene and Norma Reichard, the park honors their family’s Gumtown Company Store and serves as a testament to their vision for creating a shared space for the community. Since its founding, the park has hosted family gatherings, class reunions, weddings, and festivals, playing a vital role in Redbank Valley life.
Purchased in 1987 by Norma Reichard, the property—formerly Andrew’s Lumber Company—was transformed into a vibrant community space through the Reichard family’s dedication. A 2005 monument commemorates their contributions, ensuring their legacy endures. Today, the Borough of New Bethlehem continues this mission, with plans for inclusive upgrades such as a handicap-accessible playground, splash pad, and enhanced facilities, supported by local businesses and residents.
